Despite the fact that she isn't genuinely tormented, the mind-boggling and absurdly amazing government intellectually subjugates her. For one thing, Offred thinks back about the manner in which life used to be by recollecting anecdotes about Luke, her better half, Moira, her closest companion, and her little girl. As referenced before, Offred lives in a terrible society that keeps her from being liberated. Basically, the legislature subjugates Offred in light of the fact that shes a female, and shes fruitful. Recalling accounts of the past give her brief alleviation from her coupling circumstance. Additionally, Offred becomes friends with the Commanders helper, Nick. Feeling cherished by Nick gives Offred a window of expectation in her in any case grim life. At long last, rather than broadcasting her sentiments for all to hear, she stifles her emotions. The outcome is a progression of chronicles that delineate her life and the things she wishes she could change. Through these models, it is obvious that Offred can't confront her issues on account of outside conditions. Works, for example, Raise the Red Lantern, The Handmaids Tale, and A Dolls House manage females being not able to confront their issues. A plenty of writers have composed on this topic. In spite of the fact that a few issues are unavoidable, one can conquer certain circumstances by being progressively self-assured. Alongside male control and the laws of society, ladies have needed to battle with other testing and mistreating circumstances. Ho wever regardless of this, ladies in present day society are getting all the more remarkable. 1. Underline titles of books, plays and movies. 2. Utilizing direct statements reinforces your paper. It might be difficult to utilize cites from a film yet from the novel and the play you there are a few statements that could be utilized to help your contentions. 3. Nature Versus Nurture

Nature Versus Nurture You got your green eyes from your mom and your spots from your dad yet where did you get your rush looking for character and ability for singing? Did you take in these things from your folks or was it foreordained by your qualities? While plainly physical qualities are innate, the hereditary waters get somewhat murkier with regards to a people conduct, knowledge, and character. At last, the old contention of nature versus support has never truly had an unmistakable champ. While we dont truly know the amount of our character is dictated by our DNA and how much by our background, we do realize that both have an influence. The Nature versus Support Debate The utilization of the terms nature and support as helpful catchphrases for the jobs of heredity and condition in human improvement can be followed back to thirteenth century France. In most straightforward terms, a few researchers accept individuals carry on as they do as indicated by hereditary inclinations or even creature senses, which is known as the nature hypothesis of human conduct, while others accept individuals think and act in specific manners since they are educated to do as such. This is known as the support hypothesis of human conduct. Quickly developing comprehension of the human genome has clarified that the two sides of the discussion have merit. Nature supplies us with inalienable capacities and attributes. Support takes these hereditary inclinations and molds them as we learn and develop. End of story, isn't that so? Not a chance. The nature versus support contention seethes on as researchers banter the amount of what our identity is molded by hereditary factors and what amount is an aftereffect of natural elements. The Nature Theory: Heredity Researchers have referred to for a considerable length of time that attributes, for example, eye shading and hair shading are controlled by explicit qualities encoded in every human cell. The nature hypothesis makes things a stride further by recommending that theoretical characteristics, for example, knowledge, character, animosity, and sexual direction can likewise be encoded in a people DNA. The quest for social qualities is the wellspring of steady contest as some dread that hereditary contentions will be utilized to pardon criminal acts or legitimize introverted conduct. Maybe the most questionable theme begging to be proven wrong is whether theres such an unbelievable marvel as a gay quality. Some contend that if such hereditary coding does for sure exist, that would mean qualities assume probably some job in our sexual direction. In an April 1998 LIFE magazine article titled, Were You Born That Way? creator George Howe Colt guaranteed that new examinations show its for the most part in your qualities. Be that as it may, the issue was a long way from settled. Pundits brought up that the investigations on which the creator and similar scholars based their discoveries utilized lacking information and too slender a meaning of same-sex direction. Later research, in view of an increasingly indisputable investigation of a more extensive populace test arrived at various determinations, including a 2018 historic examination (the biggest of its sort do date) co-led by the Broad Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Harvard Medical School in Boston that took a gander at the potential connections of DNA and gay conduct. This examination confirmed that there were four hereditary factors situated on chromosomes seven, 11, 12, and 15, that do appear to have some relationship in same-sex fascination (two of these variables are explicit just to guys). Nonetheless, in an October 2018 meeting with Science, the study’s boss creator, Andrea Ganna, prevented the presence from securing a â€Å"gay gene† in essence, clarifying: â€Å"Rather, ‘nonheterosexuality’ is to some extent impacted by numerous little hereditary effects.† Ganna went to state that scientists still couldn't seem to set up the connection between's the variations they’d recognized and genuine qualities. â€Å"It’s a captivating sign. We know basically nothing about the hereditary qualities of sexual conduct, so anyplace is a decent spot to start,† he conceded, notwithstanding, the last takeaway was that the four hereditary variations couldn't be depended on as indicators of sexual directi on. The Nurture Theory: Environment While not thoroughly limiting that hereditary inclination may exist, supporters of the sustain hypothesis presume that, eventually, they dont matter. They accept our conduct characteristics are characterized exclusively by the natural factors that influence our childhood. Studies on newborn child and youngster demeanor have uncovered the most convincing contentions for the sustain hypothesis. American clinician John Watson, a solid defender of ecological learning, showed that the obtaining of a fear could be clarified by old style molding. While at Johns Hopkins University, Watson led a progression of investigations on a nine-month-old stranded baby named Albert. Utilizing techniques like those utilized by Russian physiologist Ivan Pavlov with hounds, Watson molded the infant to make certain affiliations dependent on combined upgrades. Each time the youngster was given a specific item, it was joined by an uproarious, alarming commotion. In the end, the youngster figured out how to connect the article with dread, regardless of whether the clamor was available or not. The consequences of Watsons study were distributed in the February 1920 version of the Journal of Experimental Psychology. Give me twelve sound babies, very much shaped, and my own predetermined world to bring them up in and Ill assurance to take any one indiscriminately and train him to turn out to be any sort of authority I may choose ... despite his gifts, inclinations, propensities, capacities, employments and race of his predecessors. Harvard analyst B. F. Skinners early trials delivered pigeons that could move, do figure-eights, and play tennis. Today Skinner is known as the dad of conduct science. Skinner in the end proceeded to demonstrate that human conduct could be molded similarly as creatures. Nature versus Support in Twins On the off chance that hereditary qualities didnt have an impact in the advancement of our characters, at that point it follows that intimate twins raised under similar conditions would be indistinguishable paying little mind to contrasts in their qualities. Studies appear, notwithstanding, that while brotherly twins accomplish more intently take after each other than non-twin kin, they likewise display striking likenesses when raised separated from the twin kin, much similarly that indistinguishable twins raised independently regularly grow up with many (yet not all) comparative character attributes. In the event that nature doesnt have an influence in deciding a people qualities and practices, at that point indistinguishable twins should, hypothetically, be the equivalent in all regards, regardless of whether raised independently. Nonetheless, while contemplates show that indistinguishable twins are rarely precisely indistinguishable, they are surprisingly comparable in many regards. All things considered, in Happy Families: A Twin Study of Humor, a recent report distributed by workforce at the Twin Research and Genetic Epidemiology Unit at St. Thomas Hospital in London, scientists reasoned that a comical inclination is an educated quality affected by family and social condition, as opposed to any hereditary fate. Its Not Versus, Its And Things being what they are, is the manner in which we carry on instilled before were conceived, or does it create after some time because of our encounters? Scientists on the two sides of the nature versus sustain banter concur that the connection between a quality and conduct isn't equivalent to circumstances and logical results. While a quality may improve the probability that youll carry on with a specific goal in mind, it doesn't decisively foreordain conduct. Along these lines, as opposed to being an instance of either/or, its reasonable that whatever character we create is because of a blend of both nature and support. Sources Value, Michael. Save a tree

Save a tree… eat a Beaver. Speaking of beavers killing treeslets talk about how many pages of paperwork the MIT Athletics Department (DAPER) is forcing upon me. As a new MIT athlete, the first thing I had to do was print the Eligibility Checklist, which has been tremendously useful. It lists all of the forms that need to be filled out, along with their deadlines and the addresses they need to be mailed to. First there was the Medical Report and the Supplemental Medical History for Varsity Athletes (both of which were submitted to MITMedical). Then I had to fill out the Practice Form, which was sent to the athletics department and was 10 pages long! These were all due August 1st (yesterday, for those of you who are chronologically challenged now that summers here) and the Medical Report was required for all incoming freshmen, so I hope everyone met the deadline! Personally, I mailed all medical forms and the first 9 pages of the practice form in plenty of time, thank you very much. (The tenth page was discovered this morning in my scanner. I never took it out after making copies. See what happens when you follow directions?! I mailed it out today with a little apology note attached and crossed my fingers that it wont get lost and create a big, messy, administrative problem.) Now I just need to fill out the one page Sports Information Sheet and the 10 page NCAA Division III Form and brin g them with me to my first meeting with my team. Oh, but before signing the NCAA form, I need to read the Summary of NCAA Regulations- Division III, which is thankfully only 11 pages long. Im tired just thinking about this. Moving on to.FEE results! The FEE stands for the Freshman Essay Evaluation, and all incoming frosh are required to take it. You sign up on-line, access the required readings on-line, and submit your essays by email. A few weeks later, the results are posted. These results analyze your English ability and determine which classes you are able to take as a freshman. I took the test in June, because the results were available before the deadline for the HASS-D lottery. The upshot of this is that you can make more informed choices in the lottery, because youll know what restrictions will apply to you next year. I read my results (which were very helpful and specificthey totally called me on the fact that my essays had no structure at all, so props for that) and confidently submitted my preferences for the lottery. Once I did this, I of course promptly became very, very confused about my results and panicked about the possibility that I had messed up the lottery. [Editors note in 2017: some of the requirements described below have been updated since this was first published. Please refer to the current description of MITs communications requirement.] Heres what happened: my results said that I may take any CI-H or CI-HW subject during your first year at MIT, which was fine with me, because I had no idea what the difference was between CI-H and CI-HW. Still dont, in fact. So I just filled out the lottery based on the subjects I was interested in and didnt take CI-designation into account at all. Then I realized that some of my choices (including my first choice) werent Communication Intensive at all. I was nervous that I messed up (maybe I was required to take a CI class?) until I realized that the course catalog we received was made especially for freshmen- so if all freshmen were required to take a CI class first semester, why would non-CI classes be included in the booklet? Exactly. So, assuming youve followed me so far, heres what Ive figured out. Youre required to take 4 CI classes before you graduate. This translates to roughly one per year. So if I take a regular HASS-D first semester, I can still take a CI class second semester. (You are required to take one CI class your freshman year, and CommReq agrees with me. Yes! I feel like Ive finally figured something out!) Apparently, Ill be ineligible for sophomore standing for the spring semester, buthey, I have no idea what Im doing anyway. Thats why they give me an advisor and let you add and drop classes later in the term and all that Next big date: August 15th, when advising folders will be available on-line. (These will include such goodies as your freshman advisor and seminar, AP scores, results of requests for transfer credit, FEE results, Math Diagnostic results, and HASS-D lottery results.) Fun stuff. I apologize for the dryness of this entry, promise to write things that are more entertaining once I start packing and getting properly excited about college, and certify that I am absolutely uncertain of any and all of the information listed above. One last thought- I finally made a proper banner and set up my blog just the way I like it. Ahhh, satisfaction. Thoughts? Please let me know if its completely illegible. I have a tendency to really screw things up that way (just ask Ben). Please dont tell me if you think its really ugly, unless youre sure its ugly only by accident, because that would make me sad. OK thanks. Have a nice day. =)

This means that as a user continues to take a drug the desired effects lessen with the same dosage used over and over again because they are slowly building up a tolerance to the drug and its effects. But, if the user increases the dosage over time, they will be able to achieve that desired effect that they are looking for and in turn become more and more tolerant to the drug. George exemplifies this trait very well when he is in the delivery room and his wife is having their child. Before rushing his wife to the hospital George is shown taking/accidently inhaling cocaine as he packs for the trip. Once at the hospital and in the delivery room George is seen standing in a corner watching his wife give birth. Charles De Secondat, Baron De La Brede Et De Montesquieu Was Born In 1 Essay Example For Students

Charles De Secondat, Baron De La Brede Et De Montesquieu Was Born In 1 Essay 689 to a French noble family. His family tree could be traced 350 years, which in his view made its name neither good nor bad. (The Encyclopedia of Social Sciences, p. 68) Montesquieus views started to be shaped at a very early age. A beggar was chosen to be his godfather to remind him of his obligations to the poor. Montesquieus education started at the age of 11 when he was sent to Juilly, a school maintained by the Congregation of the Oratory. From 1705 to 1709 he studied law in Bordeaux. From 1705 to 1709 he was a legal apprentice in Paris. There he came to know some of the most advanced thinkers of his time: Fredet, the Abbe Lama, and Boulainvilliers.(Ibid.). In 1716 Montesquieu got a seat of president a mortier in the parlement of Guyenne from his deceased uncle. Even though he did not like his job he believed parliaments were necessary to control the monarchs. In 1721 Montesquieu published the Persian Letters, which he began working on while studying in Bordeaux. The book was a success. In the Persian Letters Montesquieu showed how relative all of the French values were. Even though the technique used in this witty book was previously used by other writers, Montesquieu did a great job making fun of the European values. At that time he already believed in the immorality of European practices such as religious prosecution. The book gave roots for Montesquieus later arguments and ideas. When in 1728 Montesquieu, with the help of his Parisian connections he got elected to the French Academy, he was happy to sell his office of president a mortier. In the course of the next three years he traveled all over Europe, visiting Germany, Hungary, England, Holland, Austria, and Italy. It is not surprising that out of his European tour the country which had the greatest impact on his later work (just like it did on Voltaires) was England. During his stay there he was elected a fellow of the Royal Society. After he returned to France the second portion of his carrier had began. He became a full time writer, traveling between his La Brede estate and Paris. It is during this period that the Considerations on the Causes of the Greatness of the Romans and Their Decline and the Spirit of Laws were written. In the Considerations Montesquieu used Roman history to prove some of his ideas about reasons for the rise and the fall of civilizations. His most important point was that history is made by causes and effects, by events influenced by man, and not by luck. His ideas are summarized in this passage:I is not fortune that rules the world . . .The Romans had a series of consecutive successes when their government followed one policy, and an unbroken set of reverses when it adopted another. There are general causes, whether moral or physical, which act upon every monarchy, which create, maintain, or ruin it. All accidents are subject to these causes, and if the chance loss of a battle, that is to say, a particular cause, ruins a state, there is a general cause that created the situation whereby this state could perish by the loss of a single battle. (1734, chapter 18)Montesquieu disliked democracy. In the Considerations he argued that in a democratic society conflicts were essential becaus e various groups would argue for their own interest. He believed that the division of the Roman empire was caused by two many freedoms. On the other hand he also opposed a system where social classes oppress other classes without resistance. .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 , .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 .postImageUrl , .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 , .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1:hover , .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1:visited , .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1:active { border:0!important; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1:active , .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1 .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ufcea16578fd79291b05d05716fb992f1:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Argumentative Essay About TechnologyAfter 20 years of work Montesquieu published his most complete book, The Spirit of Laws. In this comparison of different government types, Montesquieu used his views on human nature to explain human actions and passions and predict the most effective government. According to his ideas human passions such as hunger for power, jealousy, and hate made men seek absolute rule, and passions like want of freedom, and hate of oppression lead the suppressed classes to over though the government. In the Spirit of Laws Montesquieu tries to develop an effective government that will keep the country united. It is impossible to describe this book in t his report by I will state a few main points. Montesquieu believed that the most effective and modern type of government is a monarchy. By monarchy he meant a ruler governing the nation, with the nobility, the clergy and parliament controlling his actions. He believed the weak should be protected from the powerful by laws and a separation of powers. He felt that the nobility and an monarch had to both be present and could not succeed one without the other. Montesquieu stated that it was important to understand that even members of one class are not exactly alike, but are somewhat alike. In the Spirit of Laws he reefers to the importance of teaching citizens why laws are a certain way and why they are necessary. Montesquieu believed religion was aslo helpfull to control a country. He made it a tool used by the rulers to keep the citizens loyal. In general, in the Spirit of Laws, Montesquieus model governments did not exactly duplicate any existing ones. On the other hand they were the guidelines for the governments of his day, as well as ones of our time. His ideas help us to understand the Enlightenment, as well as the Middle Ages. It is safe to say that his ideas will never die and his gift to the world will always be remembered. Montesquieu can easily be considered a model Enlightment figure. His ideas produce a mild paradox. He wanted change for the better without crushing the current government. He wanted to educate the people of a country, but was not a radical, and therefore didnt include the peasants. He respected reason, and used it to help the mankind by creating an idle society. He critisised religion, and yet had faith in God. As a whole he tried to improve things without turning the world upside down. He was the model figure for the steady advancement of the human civilization. BIBLIOGRAPHY1. The Old Man at the Bridge free essay sample

The book I have read Ive recently read a book, which has made a very deep impression on me. It is named Gone with the Wind The author of the book is Margaret Mitchell. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in a family of the president of the Atlanta Historical Society. All the family was interested in American history and she grew up in an atmosphere of stones about the Civil War. After graduating from the college Margaret Mitchell worked for a time for the Atlanta Journal. In 1925 she got married. In the following ten years she put on paper all the stories she had heard about the Civil War. The result was Gone with the Wind. It was first published in 1936 and became the talking point of all America. In 1939 the book was made into a highly successful film. Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable played the leading roles. Vivien Leigh won the Oscar. Everyone loved her high-spirited and beautiful heroine, Scarlett OHara. The story is set around the time of the American Civil War (1861-1865), when the Southern states went to war with the North to defend their way of life. It was a way of life in which rich gentry lived in large houses and owned huge areas of land, cultivated by black slaves. Scarlett OHara was born in one of those rich houses. But Gone with the Wind is also about a love triangle. While Scarlett loves the quiet, gentlemanly Ashley Wilkes, the wild and decidedly ungentlemanly Rhett Butler is in love with her. Not so long ago, in 1991, a publishing company asked Alexandra Ripley, a historical novelist, to write the continuation of the story. Her novel Scarlett was not in the same class as the original. Critics have been writing very bad reviews of Scarlett but the book is popular with the public. Entertainment Nowadays everybody knows that people are very busy and don’t have much time to spare. Sometimes it’s only the weekend and I think that every day-off needs some special planning. The English say: Who knows how to work, knows how to rest. I think it’s true. In my view rest is as important as work. I prefer spending my free time with the people whose company I always enjoy. I also like to spend my spare time alone, when I’m tired and haven’t got any desire to talk to anybody, very often I want to get away from noisy streets and go to the countryside and change the scenery. On the other hand I may go to different entertainment centers such as cinema, theatre, concerts halls, etc. If you want to be strong and healthy, go in for sports. There are many sports clubs, swimming-pools, gymnasiums and sport grounds for everybody who loves sports. Sport will make you not only healthier and stronger, but kinder, more sociable, cheerful and even wiser. Sport will give you its strength and energy and you’ll become a greater admirer of life with all its problems and wonders. Travelling is also a good way to spend my spare time. Visiting new places, seeing sights and meeting new people is a very exciting and useful relaxation. I can go hiking. In summer I like to be outdoors from morning till night, sunbathing, walking barefoot on the grass. My family or my friends are the very people to go with to the riverbank, to the forest or to the seashore. Its really wonderful to put up a tent, make a fire and spend time in a picturesque place. People are dreamers, our dreams are different but each person chooses his own way of spending free time, either passive or active. In any case leisure should be refreshment and a source of inspiration. Education in Great Britain: Schools In Britain it is compulsory for everyone between the ages of 5 and 16 years to receive some officially recognized form of schooling, though most secondary schools continue to provide education until the age of 18. The vast majority of pupils attend state schools, which are absolutely free (including all text books and exercise books), but there are also about 500 private schools providing secondary education. The most famous of these schools are Eton and Harrow. There is no statutory age at which students change from primary to secondary school, nor are schools specialized — pupils choose from the numerous subjects taught in their particular school. The recently introduced National Curriculum has made it compulsory, however, for three core subjects — English, mathematics, and science — and seven other foundation subjects — technology (including design), history, geography, music, art, physical education, and a modern foreign language — to be included in the curricula of all pupils. Passage from one academic year to the next is automatic. After a two-year course, usually from 14 to 16 years of age, most pupils take their General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE), assessed on the basis of a mixture of course work and a written examination, in individual subjects. Pupils obtaining at least five passes at GCSE can then specialize for two years (usually from 16 to 18 years of age) in two or three subjects, in which they take the General Certificate of Education Advanced level (A-level) examination. This is used as an entrance qualification for university (minimum two passes) and other types of higher education, as well as for many forms of professional training. Education in Great Britain: Higher Education (1) There is a considerable choice of post-school education in Britain. In addition to universities, there are also polytechnics and a series of different types of assisted colleges, such as colleges of technology, art, etc. , which tend to provide more work-orientated courses than universities. Virtually all students on full-time courses receive grants or loans from the Government which cover their tuition fees and everyday expenses (accommodation, food, books, etc. ). Universities in Britain enjoy complete academic freedom, choosing their own staff and deciding which students to admit, what and how to teach, and which degrees to award (first degrees are called Bachelor degrees). They are mainly government-funded, except for the totally independent University of Buckingham. There is no automatic admission to university, as there are only a limited number of places (around 100,000) available each year. Candidates are accepted on the basis of their A-level results. Virtually all degree courses are full-time and most last three years (medical and veterinary courses last five or six years). Students who obtain their Bachelor degree (graduates) can apply to take a further degree course, usually involving a mixture of exam courses and research. There are two different types of postgraduate courses — the Masters degree (MA or MSc) and higher degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Writing Evolution Topics For Research Paper - How To Make It Good

Writing Evolution Topics For Research Paper - How To Make It GoodIs it possible to write the evolution topics for research paper that is really good? Of course it is. If you know where to find it, then you will have no problem writing a great paper.Evolution is a term used in the science of life. In this context, it refers to biological evolution. Biological evolution is the change of a species from one form to another. That is an interesting topic for research paper. There are many things that you should include in your topic if you want it to be successful. Some of these items may sound a bit obvious, but they are very important and should be considered when you begin writing your topic. You need to give your reader some background information about the history of evolution. It is not enough to just mention the history of evolution. The background information needs to give readers a better understanding of the things that they need to know about evolution. The rest of your paper is go ing to focus on your main topics, so make sure that your main topic is going to hold the reader's interest. Don't just write about evolution but make it seem as if you are discussing all the areas of life. In this way, the reader will be drawn into reading your paper and be interested in what you have to say.The order in which you put your evolution topics for research paper will have a lot to do with whether or not your topic is going to be successful. It will depend on how much information you have to share about evolution and the place where you write it. In a high school biology class, evolution is probably one of the least important subjects. However, if you are writing an essay for a college or graduate level biology class, then you will need to include evolutionary areas more often. This is because it is important for students to learn as much as they can about evolution before they graduate.

University Tuition Fees free essay sample

Some University Policy makers have viewed the increased college tuition fees as a means of dealing with the economic crisis of the early 2000s. The need for universities more resources have also increased. In addition, the facilities needed for technical courses such as engineering are necessary and the institution cannot offer such courses without proper facilities. To be able to finance such facilities, tuition fee must be increased. Education is expensive and is high time we started realizing the real price of education. Any person who is ready to get good education must be ready to pay for it. That is the truth. However, some also argue that it is not fair for the rate to be equal in all faculties. I agree that the students who major in technical courses should pay more tuition fees than the ones who major in other courses such as social sciences. When the institution locates funds to various faculties some get more than others because of their high budget. We will write a custom essay sample on University Tuition Fees or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Courses such as environmental are full of field works and trips. The university must find a good way of solving the discrepancy between the university revenue and expenditures. The colleges in most of the states charge a uniform tuition fee without considering the course difference and their requirements. We need to follow the good example of University of Phoenix that announced last year that they will not raise the University tuition fee. This was a decision reached in the effort to encourage and facilitate higher education for all persons irrespective of his age. According to Dr. Bill Pepicello, president, University of Phoenix, â€Å"For too long, rising tuition rates have presented an unacceptable barrier to higher education at colleges and universities throughout the country† (University of Phoenix). He acknowledged the step taken by the University to freeze tuition fee. He stated â€Å"Today, university of Phoenix is taking an important step towards making college a more affordable reality. No student of this university whether new or existing will pay increased tuition while earning a degree here, as long as they meet eligibility requirements and remain consistently enrolled. Its the right thing to do† (University of Phoenix). Most Adult students hate the criteria used to design how tuition fees are charged by the University. One could apply for a degree Bachelor of Biomedical science but was denied a chance. Later, they decide to take a course in social sciences. The problem arose when he was charged the same fee just like they charge people taking technical courses. This was not fair at all. Adult students do not enjoy using most of the facilities as much as the rest in some faculties. They only operate in lecture halls and library while some of colleagues use laboratory equipments, travel for field works and other practical activities that use a lot of money. It would be more preferable if the tuition fees were to be charged according to each course a student is taking, the facilities being used. Some would ask,† Are we paying for others to enjoy some facilities on our behalf? As an adult student, some special consideration should be given to us. We have children and we also take them to school. All that is money being spent but education is for all and therefore it should aim at accommodating all of us irrespective of age. I would be happy if the policy is implemented. Another group of adult students, however, feels that the costs of a product and in this case, education, may have a bearing on the quality of education being dispensed in an institution. Thus, they would not mind the cost of tuition fees being high. They too have children and as such, they have experienced the pain they have gone through in getting them education, even in lower levels and realize that it is the quality that actually matters. University Students on the other hand, argue that although the University tuition fee is relatively high in the Universities, the idea of charging the fee in relation to one course would not preferable. They view this as a discrimination of the highest order. The argument is that they have a different course interest, but university education if education regardless. It is individual interest that leads different students to do different courses at the end of the day. No course is superior to the other and no course without job opportunity after completion. So all of us should just be treated equally and the uniform tuition fee be charged. If one takes a technical course for instance and his colleague takes a social course. It is not anyone’s decision including the University administration to deny him the opportunity to use these facilities, but rather it is a course requirement. Those in the technical faculties also do not brag about the situation, and if anything they go under a lot of pressure from a lot of work. As they rightly should, students also differ on this subject. The major reason for this is that they also feel and empathize with their parents when their fee structure reads an item like laboratory equipment and field trips charges while they are taking a, say, business course, which confines them to the lecture rooms and library. The most a student should be made to pay for is sports equipment and library whether or not they use these facilities. This is because they should use them and they are not course specific. â€Å"High University tuition fee has denied my son an opportunity of higher education. The current fee does not promote education at all. University tuition should be reduced much lower to encourage learning. † These are the views of a parent who is vehemently opposed to the high fees. It is arguable that they not only affect children who have completed the secondary school but also those in primary schools as well. This is because a child who sees his elder sibling at home because of the unaffordable University fee feels discouraged from continuing with education at his level. It is the elder people who act as role model to young ones. Some parents are on the other side of the fence. Basically, some are okay with the prices for the same reason the adult students are, that is, the fees are reflective of the quality of education. However, some support the prices as to them it shows and separates the classes. The person taking engineering cannot be compared to the person taking another science, who, in turn, cannot be compared to someone taking a business course, then a social source, and so on. They required different qualifications to join the courses and the status must be maintained for the divide to be kept. Tuition increase cannot happen without any proper reason why it is happening. The question of whether to increase tuition fee or not should become last after every other thing that cause that increase to effect has been solved. As the administrator of Carolina University, the increased University fee that comprises of tuition, room, fees, board, supplies and books, travel, health insurance, and a personal expenditure allowance helps us manage the institution in a way that makes it meaningful to students. The tuition fee we charge helps in acquiring some important facilities and resources that enable us provide education of value. Tuition increase has also helped us pay the academic officials good salaries with this economic crisis. The idea of reducing the tuition fee at this particular time of economic problems is not logical and I do not think the University institution is to blame for this. However, some also argue that they take care of the needy students in the campus. There is acknowledgement of the fact that all students are not equal financially and therefore use part of this money to pay for the needy students a portion of their fee. They are sure to scrutinize the applications and use the set criteria in deciding on those who qualifies. It is every university’s commitment to provide quality education and that includes the needy people. If institutions decide to charge the fees in relation to courses people take in the campus, they would not be able to run their projects as required. The majority of people interested in technical faculties will feel discouraged. Doing that would mean that either the tuition fees for the technical courses are increased or reduce the tuition fees for the other courses which do not require more resources. However, some of them will be discouraged and feel discriminated. A few people will manage to take expensive courses while cheap ones are available. I therefore prefer a uniform rate of University tuition fee (Ehrenberg). It will not be economical enough for the universities to in any way attempt to reduce the University tuition fee without any help from the government. Considering the situation now, the economy of the country is weakened that extra funds from the government to boost Universities is no possible. It is the weakened economy that has forced the government to drastically cut off some higher education funding. This has led to most of the Universities to increase the tuition fee. However, the idea of inequality in terms of the tuition fee across different faculties will depend on how the University administration engages students to find the way forward. The solution lies with the Universities themselves and it is high time they realized that they should initiate economic projects that would help them adequately run the institution without putting the burden on students and relying on government (Ehrenberg). In conclusion, it is of no doubt that the increased University tuition fee has denied many people the right to high education. Although some universities have taken a bold and sympathetic step to stop the increase of fees and to help the needy students, most people are still locked out. The University management argues that there is a strong and relevant reason for the tuition fee increase. On the other hand, all students including adults find the current rate unaffordable with the bad economic situation. However, there is an antagonistic argument between the students in the technical facilities and those in social sciences. Social sciences students feel that the fee is not fair to them because they do not use as much university resources as compared to students in technical and science faculties. However, their colleagues feel otherwise. I therefore have a feeling that the University administrations should bring all parties together with the educational experts to find a better solution putting all factors into consideration.

A Profile of Barry Goldwater - “Mr. Conservative”

A Profile of Barry Goldwater - â€Å"Mr. Conservative† Barry Goldwater was a 5-term US Senator from Arizona and the Republican nominee for president in 1964. Mr. Conservative Barry Goldwater and the Genesis of the Conservative Movement In the 1950s, Barry Morris Goldwater emerged as the nation’s leading conservative politician. It was Goldwater, along with his growing legion of â€Å"Goldwater Conservatives,† who brought the concepts of small government, free enterprise, and a strong national defense into the national public debate. These were the original planks of the conservative movement and remain the heart of the movement today. Beginnings Goldwater entered politics in 1949, when he won a seat as a Phoenix city councilman. Three years later, in 1952, he became a US Senator for Arizona. For nearly a decade, he helped redefine the Republican Party, assembling it into the party of the conservatives. In the late 1950s, Goldwater became closely associated with the anti-Communist movement and was an avid supporter of Sen. Joseph McCarthy. Goldwater stuck with McCarthy until the bitter end and was one of only 22 members of Congress who refused to censure him. Goldwater supported desegregation and civil rights to varying degrees. He got himself into political hot water, however, with his opposition to legislation that would eventually turn into the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Goldwater was a passionate Constitutionalist, who had supported the NAACP and had backed previous versions of civil rights legislation, but he opposed the 1964 bill because he believed it violated states’ rights to self-govern. His opposition earned him political support from conservative southern Democrats, but he was detested as a â€Å"racist† by many blacks and minorities. Presidential Aspirations Goldwater’s rising popularity in the South in the early 1960s helped him win a tough bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 1964. Goldwater had been looking forward to running an issue-oriented campaign against his friend and political rival, President John F. Kennedy. An avid pilot, Goldwater had planned to fly around the country with Kennedy, in what the two men believed would be a revival of the old whistle-stop campaign debates. Kennedys Death Goldwater was devastated when those plans were cut short by Kennedy’s death in late 1963, and he mourned the president’s passing profoundly. Nevertheless, he won the Republican nomination in 1964, setting up a showdown with Kennedy’s vice president, Lyndon B. Johnson, who he despised and would later accuse of â€Å"using every dirty trick in the book.† Introducing ... Mr. Conservative During the Republican National Convention in 1964, Goldwater gave perhaps the most conservative acceptance speech ever uttered when he said, â€Å"I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.† This statement prompted one member of the press to exclaim, â€Å"My God, Goldwater is running as Goldwater!† The Campaign Goldwater was not prepared for the brutal campaign tactics of the vice president. Johnson’s philosophy was to run as though he were 20 points behind, and he did just that, crucifying the Arizona Senator in a series of vicious television ads. Comments Goldwater made during the previous ten years were taken out of context and used against him. For example, he had once told members of the press that he sometimes thought the country would be better off if the entire Eastern Seaboard were sawed off and floated out to sea. The Johnson campaign ran an ad showing a wooden model of the United States in a tub of water with a saw hacking off the Eastern states. The Effectiveness of Negative Campaigning Perhaps the most damning and personally offensive ad to Goldwater was the one called â€Å"Daisy,† which showed a young girl counting flower petals as a male voice counted down from ten to one. At the end of the ad, the girl’s face was frozen as images of nuclear war played in the shadows and a voice extolled Goldwater, implying he would launch a nuclear attack if elected. Many consider these ads to be the beginnings of the modern negative campaign period which continues to this day. Goldwater lost in a landslide, and Republicans lost many seats in Congress, setting the conservative movement back significantly. Goldwater won his seat in the Senate again in 1968 and continued to earn respect from his political peers on Capitol Hill. Nixon In 1973, Goldwater had a significant hand in the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon. The day before Nixon resigned, Goldwater told the president that if he stayed in office, Goldwater’s vote would be in favor of impeachment. The conversation coined the term â€Å"Goldwater moment,† which is still used today to describe the moment a group of the president’s fellow party members vote against him or publicly take a position opposite him. Reagan In 1980, Ronald Reagan won a crushing defeat over incumbent Jimmy Carter and columnist George Will called it a victory for conservatives, saying Goldwater had actually won the 1964 election, â€Å"†¦ it just took 16 years to count the votes.† The New Liberal The election would eventually mark the decline of Goldwater’s conservative influence as the social conservatives and the Religious Right began to slowly take over the movement. Goldwater vociferously opposed their two top issues, abortion and gay rights. His views came to be regarded as more â€Å"Libertarian† than conservative, and Goldwater later admitted with wonder that he and his ilk were the â€Å"new liberals of the Republican party.† Goldwater died in 1998 at the age of 89.
